California is experiencing its most severe drought in recorded history. Meanwhile, Nestlé Waters’ bottling plants are operating at full volume, including in California’s San Bernardino National Forest, where its using an expired permit to take water for its Arrowhead Springs brand. On Saturday, July 16th, people will join together at Sprouts grocery stores across the country to hold Nestlé accountable for its illegal actions.
With 212 stores, Sprouts has significant power to pressure Nestlé to clean up its act. The company's website says that “Responsible retailing for Sprouts is… partnering with suppliers and vendors to ensure that the products we sell are responsibly sourced; reducing waste and our environmental footprint.” Our petition grabbed Sprouts' attention, but the company still refuses to act. It's time to flex our citizen muscles. We're calling for events at Sprouts stores on July 16th to demand the retailer stop carrying Nestlé’s Arrowhead Springs, because there is nothing responsible or sustainable about Nestlé’s actions.
