    Volunteer with Uproot

Uproot is interested in connecting with people who want to get involved with their project in Vancouver, as well as anyone who would like to start a similar project in another city.

Uproot's mission is to divert wood waste from landfills in Vancouver by recycling the material and creating innovative, sustainable projects. Uproot is hoping that the success of their project can be replicated in other cities worldwide.

Volunteering with a Community Launchpad organization is a great way to connect with like-minded Story of Stuff supporters while making a difference in a local community.

Uproot was founded in January 2015 by two students from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Twenty two percent of Vancouver’s annual waste is comprised of wood, a large portion coming from the construction industry. Uproot’s members are passionate about changing the way waste is treated. So far they have diverted over 15 tons of waste from Vancouver's landfills.

The Story of Stuff Project is proud to have Uproot as a partner as part of our new Community Launchpad program.
