WHY: We’re teaming up with organizations and legislators to pass the most ambitious legislation in the US addressing the plastic crisis. Senate Bill 54 and Assembly Bill 1080 would phase out non-recyclable single-use plastic, drive massive reductions in California’s plastic footprint, and push companies to redesign packaging, creating a blueprint for the zero-waste future we need.
The plastic industry is ramping up efforts to kill the bill, so we need to pull out all the stops and remind legislators who they represent ahead of a crunch vote in the Assembly and Senate. RSVP below to you join us!
WHAT: Join a show of strength at a rally and press conference outside the State Capitol and then help us deliver messages calling on legislators to support SB 54 and AB 1080!
WHERE & WHEN: Wednesday, August 21. We'll set up on the West Steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento for the day. Join us at
- 7 am: Shuttle from Berkeley, Berkeley Way & Bonita Ave. Or
- 9 am: If making your own way, meet us in Downtown & Vine: 1200 K Street Suite 8, Sacramento – Between 12th and 13th
- 10 am onwards: Join us on the West steps of the capitol building
SCHEDULE:
- 9:00-10:00 Briefing on how to speak to legislators
- 10:00-15:00: Meetings with legislators
- 10:30-15:00: Rally, press conference, filming, and activities outside the capitol building
- 15:00-16:00: Wrap up and return home
