Volunteer with Carbon Footprint for Google Maps!
To further develop the capabilities of this open source program, the founder of Carbon Footprint for Google Chrome, Bruno Paleo, is hoping to connect with:
- programmers;
- web developers; and
- web designers
Carbon Footprint is a Google Chrome browser extension. Every time a user asks for directions in Google Maps, the extension displays (non-obtrusively) the CO2 emissions incurred by driving on the suggested routes. Through continuing to develop the app's capabilities, Bruno aims "to educate people and make them aware of the air pollution and global warming caused by motor vehicles based on fossil fuels."

Connecting with a Community Launchpad organization is a great way to connect with like-minded Story of Stuff supporters while making a difference in a local community.
Bruno would like help adding the following capabilities to this extension:
- expanding the extension to work with other mapping services;
- porting the extension to other browsers (e.g. Safari and Firefox)
- supporting CO2 emission estimation not only for cars but also for public transportation;
- improving the webdesign of the extension ;
- localizing to extension to other languages.
The Story of Stuff Project is proud to have Carbon Footprint for Google Chrome as a partner as part of our new Community Launchpad program.
